Our Program & Course Description:

Are you looking for a rewarding career working with young children? This entry-level course will equip you with the foundation skills and knowledge you need to become a qualified assistant within this sector. In addition, you will learn about effective interaction and communication with children, appropriate care for babies, toddlers and children, first aid, safety and working legally and ethically.
During the course you will participate in a minimum of 160 hours of placement with Meli kindergartens, and with approved child care providers.
You’ll graduate with the skills and knowledge to succeed and work appropriately in the booming early childhood sector.

Duration:

10 months


Class days per week:

9:30 – 3pm, Monday to Thursday.
Placement times in kindergarten or child care centre will vary.


Program commences:

28 January 2025


Location:

10-14 Station Street, Norlane
From 26 February there will be 2 days per week placement in a kindergarten or childcare centre, throughout the course. The placement locations will be confirmed with students after enrolment.


Additional Info:

There are no pre-requisites to complete this course. The participant must be able to read English and write at a level to complete classwork/ tests/ homework, requires suitable language & communication skills which can be refined during the course (Numeracy & Literacy support offered).
